A transfer or payout API in Nigeria can connect a business obligation to a payment workflow, but the operation needs more than a “send” button. Vendors, employees, customers and wallet users have different journeys. Define the recipient, source of funds, approval and evidence needed before selecting the integration.

Wigmore Trading accepts enquiries for transfer and payout project planning. Share your operating model, intended destinations and existing providers so the team can assess technical and operational requirements. Channel eligibility, limits and production access must be confirmed by the responsible service provider.

Distinguish customer transfers from business payouts

Peer-to-peer payments, wallet transfers, marketplace vendor payouts and payroll disbursement are different use cases. A commercial payout function should not be assumed to authorise a general money-transfer or wallet service.

Map who owns the funds, who instructs the transfer and who contracts with the recipient. Identify the licensed payment or banking organisation responsible for the relevant activity and have the operating model reviewed before building a customer-facing service.

Write the destination and channel requirements

Specify supported bank accounts or wallets, currencies, beneficiary information and required references. Confirm eligibility checks, limits, fees, cut-off conditions and the treatment of rejected or reversed payments. “Instant transfer” should be evaluated against the actual channel and evidence of completion.

Receiving money and sending money may use different interfaces and permissions. Describe both flows if the product needs them, including how balances and accounting entries will be updated.

Control beneficiary creation and changes

Decide who may add or edit beneficiary details and who approves them. Use the provider’s supported verification process and establish how staff investigate a mismatch. A changed bank account should pass a controlled process rather than being accepted from an informal message.

Keep an audit record linking the beneficiary, approval, business obligation and transfer reference. Limit access to personal and financial information to the people and systems that need it.

Plan bulk and payroll disbursements

Stage Control to define
Prepare Validated source data and a clearly identified payment period or obligation
Approve Authorised totals, recipients and release responsibility
Submit Stable references and duplicate prevention
Track Individual outcomes rather than only a batch-level response
Close Reconciliation, exceptions and approved corrections

For payroll, distinguish salary calculation and employment records from payment execution. A payout API does not replace payroll calculation, tax handling or the employer’s responsibilities. Restrict salary data and use an appropriately governed process.

Handle uncertain outcomes safely

A request accepted by an API is not necessarily a completed beneficiary credit. Define the evidence needed for each state and how updates arrive. If a response is uncertain, investigate the existing reference before resubmitting.

Keep individual outcomes visible within a batch. A partly completed batch should not be restarted in a way that pays successful recipients again. Use the reliability guide to specify retry and recovery behaviour.

Connect payouts to finance and support

Match each payout to its source obligation, approval, provider reference, fees and final result. Agree how failed and reversed payments return to the work queue. Finance should be able to distinguish a balance change from a completed payment.

Customer support needs safe references and an escalation route, while finance needs evidence for the reconciliation process. Avoid exposing full beneficiary details in broadly accessible logs or dashboards.

Test the complete operating process

Use provider-approved test data to cover ordinary transfers, invalid destinations, repeated requests, uncertain responses and partial batch completion. Include access-control and approval checks. Production readiness depends on provider approval and business controls as well as technical test results.

Send a payout integration brief

Tell Wigmore Trading whether you need vendor, merchant, creator, freelancer, salary or customer transfers. Include volumes, destinations, currencies, existing systems, approval requirements and reports. We can assess the project and clarify provider capabilities, implementation dependencies and support scope. For international destinations, review the cross-border payment guide separately.
