Rig mobilisation in Nigeria brings together equipment readiness, transport, site access and contractor interfaces. A move is successful only when the agreed package reaches its defined handover state. Wigmore Trading can help organise logistics and procurement enquiries for rig equipment movements, with actual heavy-haulage, marine, lifting and technical work confirmed by competent providers.

Define the start and end of the move

Identify the current location, destination and required handover milestone. Collection from a yard, delivery to a support base, arrival at the well site and readiness for operations are different events. The quote should state which one it covers and which activities remain with the operator or other contractors.

Onshore rig moves differ from offshore unit mobilisation. Jack-up, workover and land rig requirements also vary. Provide the named asset or module list and the operator’s programme rather than a general request to move an oil rig.

Transport and access information

Prepare controlled dimensions and weights, handling and preservation requirements, access information, delivery sequence and site readiness assumptions. Competent transport and engineering teams should validate the route and method. A short distance does not mean a bridge, road or access channel can accommodate the load.

Heavy haulage for drilling rigs may involve specialised trailers and permissions. Offshore logistics can involve towage, support vessels, ports and marine assessments. These services need project-specific confirmation; they should not be inferred from a general freight rate.

Lifting, cranes and assembly

Ask who prepares and approves the engineered lifting scope, supplies suitable cranes or other equipment and controls site interfaces. A crane quotation should match the actual lifting requirement and conditions established by qualified specialists. The article does not provide a lift plan or rig erection procedure.

Rig assembly, erection and installation are separate from delivery unless expressly included. Identify the technical contractor, required equipment, documentation and acceptance process. Record who will inspect the assembled package and resolve deviations.

Commissioning and operational handover

Rig commissioning requires a defined technical scope and competent authority. Do not describe a delivered or assembled package as commissioned solely because transport is complete. Agree the required checks, records and approvals for the intended handover state.

Where several contractors are involved, use a responsibility matrix covering transport, marine work, lifting, assembly, inspection and commissioning. The operator should control the relevant technical interfaces and permissions.

Compare mobilisation and demobilisation costs

Request separate figures for collection, preparation, transport, port or yard handling, lifting, assembly support, standby and return movement. Identify provisional items, weather or access assumptions, minimum commitments and what happens if the receiving site is not ready.

Demobilisation should be planned at the start. Confirm the return location, condition requirements, cleaning or preservation responsibilities and off-hire evidence. An open-ended return scope can create a significant cost after the campaign ends.

Request a rig move proposal

Send Wigmore the asset or module schedule, origin and destination regions, programme dates and available technical and route information. State whether you need equipment transport, an offshore move enquiry, supporting supplies or a coordinated logistics scope. We can help organise the procurement discussion, with specialist capabilities, permissions and actual mobilisation arrangements confirmed before commitment.

Questions before you commit

Does this page confirm equipment in stock?

No. Ask for a dated proposal naming the equipment or provider, current status, preparation needs and commercial validity. Photographs illustrate the subject and do not establish asset ownership or immediate availability.

What evidence should accompany the offer?

Use the operator-approved specification to define the required equipment records, inspection evidence, technical review and acceptance conditions. Confirm which qualified party is responsible for each specialist task.
