Offshore rig support combines different marine and personnel movements. An anchor-handling tug supply vessel, platform supply vessel, crew boat and accommodation barge serve different functions. A useful enquiry describes the actual operation and interfaces rather than requesting any available offshore vessel.
Wigmore Trading welcomes marine-support sourcing and logistics enquiries for drilling projects in Nigeria. Vessel availability, operator capability, required approvals and service responsibilities must be confirmed for the particular operation. Photographs and a general service guide do not establish an owned fleet or immediate availability.
Match the vessel enquiry to the task
| Requirement | Information to provide |
|---|---|
| AHTS or anchor handling | Approved operation scope and technical suitability requirements |
| PSV or supply movement | Cargo, deck and tank requirements, handling interfaces and delivery points |
| Towage or rig positioning | Asset details, approved marine plan and specialist assessment requirements |
| Accommodation | Personnel numbers, location, duration and support requirements |
| Crew transfer | Travel mode, receiving facility, manifest and operator acceptance requirements |
The qualified marine team should determine vessel capability, limits and operational procedures. This guide does not supply towing, anchoring or positioning instructions.
Towage and positioning need a defined authority
Identify the rig owner, marine contractor, operator and any required independent assurance. Agree the approved planning, inspection, certification and acceptance scope before a movement is booked. Jack-up positioning and floating-unit moves should not be treated as ordinary transport jobs.
Clarify who controls changes if conditions, equipment readiness or the receiving location differ from the plan. A charter agreement should identify decision rights and escalation rather than leave them to informal assumptions.
Coordinate cargo and personnel separately
Supply cargo needs accurate weights, dimensions, handling requirements and receiving arrangements. Hazardous goods require their appropriate review and carrier acceptance. A passenger transfer should not be used as an improvised cargo movement.
For crew boats or offshore helicopter services, use the actual operator’s acceptance process and current travel requirements. Coordinate personnel readiness, manifests and receiving-facility arrangements without collecting unnecessary personal records through an initial commercial enquiry.
Accommodation is an operating service
Specify occupancy, duration, utilities, catering, medical and emergency interfaces, and the receiving project’s requirements. An accommodation vessel or barge needs a suitability assessment and a clear service package; berth count alone is insufficient.
Identify who supplies supporting personnel, consumables and maintenance. Confirm whether marine movement, mooring, transfers and final demobilisation are included in the offer.
Compare a complete marine-support quote
Separate hire, mobilisation, demobilisation, fuel, port charges, specialist services and standby assumptions. State the contract period, working area, cancellation conditions and required documentation. A day rate without scope is not a reliable total-cost comparison.
Ask for dated vessel particulars and evidence relevant to the approved operation. Current availability and acceptance should be verified before the project schedule relies on them.
Can one package include vessel and crew travel?
Potentially, but each service and responsible operator must be named and accepted. Coordination does not remove specialist responsibilities.
What should I send Wigmore?
Provide the rig or project location, operation, dates, cargo or passenger needs and approved technical requirements. The team can assess sourcing and coordination options for a written scope.
Prepare your rig-services enquiry
Before contacting us, note the asset type and identity, project location, intended work, approved specifications, programme dates and current readiness. Identify the equipment, personnel or services required and who controls technical acceptance. Separate confirmed information from assumptions and list any approvals still outstanding.
Use a non-confidential brief initially. Do not send credentials, restricted well data, private personnel records or confidential contract files through a general sales enquiry. This checklist is for your own preparation and does not submit information.
