Trade, import, logistics, sourcing — whatever you're planning, the fastest way to a quote is a WhatsApp message. Our team replies during Lagos business hours.

A rig-financing enquiry should explain the asset, customer demand and cash needed to operate it. The purchase price is only one part of the commitment. Mobilisation, preparation, crew, maintenance, insurance, working capital and eventual return or disposal can materially change the commercial case.

Wigmore Trading welcomes enquiries about equipment sourcing and procurement planning. Financing availability, lender approval and investment structures require separate assessment by the appropriate parties. This page does not offer a loan, fund, security, guaranteed return or confirmed finance partner.

Start with the proposed business

Identify the target customer, intended rig type, operating region and actual service package. A bare asset lease and a fully operated drilling contract have different costs and responsibilities. A forecast of hire revenue should be linked to credible demand evidence rather than assumed full utilisation.

Distinguish a confirmed contract, tender invitation, non-binding interest and a general market opportunity. They do not support the same funding assumption.

Compare commercial structures carefully

Structure Questions to resolve
Asset purchase Who funds acquisition, preparation and ongoing operation?
Lease What asset, service and return obligations are included?
Finance lease or operating lease proposal What do the actual terms require, and how should advisers classify them?
Sale and leaseback What title, valuation, payment and continuing-use terms apply?
Joint venture Who contributes capital, assets, operating capability and control?

Labels do not replace contract review. Obtain qualified legal, tax and accounting advice for the actual arrangement, particularly where several countries or asset owners are involved.

Build a complete cost and cash-flow model

Include inspection, refurbishment, transport, customs, commissioning, personnel, fuel, consumables, maintenance, spares and demobilisation where relevant. Separate one-off spending from recurring obligations and identify when each payment falls due.

Test downtime, delayed mobilisation, late customer payment, lower utilisation and unplanned repair. A profitable-looking annual total can conceal a working-capital shortfall between expenses and receipts.

Evidence a financier or partner may request

Prepare asset particulars, ownership and condition records, supplier quotations, intended contracts, management capability and a realistic operating plan. Confirm the legal ability to lease or transfer the asset and any restrictions affecting deployment.

For a newbuild or build-lease-operate model, define engineering, construction, integration and acceptance risks. A fabrication quotation is not proof that the completed rig will meet a customer’s operating requirements.

Governance and exit matter

Agree decision rights, reporting, maintenance responsibilities, insurance arrangements and treatment of unexpected costs. Define what happens if a contract ends early, the asset cannot deploy or a partner cannot meet its contribution.

Do not describe rig ownership as passive income or a guaranteed investment. A technically complex asset needs competent operation and ongoing capital. Any investment solicitation requires appropriate legal and regulatory review.

Can Wigmore approve financing?

No approval or finance facility is promised here. The team can review the sourcing brief and confirm any available commercial support separately.

What should I send first?

Provide the intended asset, location, purchase or lease basis, customer requirement, project stage and procurement needs. Start with non-confidential information and agree suitable handling before sharing financial or contract records.

Prepare your rig-services enquiry

Before contacting us, note the asset type and identity, project location, intended work, approved specifications, programme dates and current readiness. Identify the equipment, personnel or services required and who controls technical acceptance. Separate confirmed information from assumptions and list any approvals still outstanding.

Use a non-confidential brief initially. Do not send credentials, restricted well data, private personnel records or confidential contract files through a general sales enquiry. This checklist is for your own preparation and does not submit information.
