Position Overview
The Group Chief Government & Strategic Affairs Officer serves as the principal executive responsible for building and managing Wigmore Group’s relationships with governments, regulators, development finance institutions, sovereign wealth funds, multilateral organisations, diplomatic missions and strategic public-sector stakeholders.
This executive plays a critical role in enabling the Group’s expansion across infrastructure, industrial development, international trade, logistics, travel, investment and technology.
The role is not one of lobbying or political influence. Rather, it is focused on lawful, transparent and long-term institutional engagement that advances strategic partnerships and sustainable economic development.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop the Group’s government engagement strategy across Nigeria and Africa.
- Establish long-term partnerships with federal and state governments.
- Build relationships with Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
- Represent Wigmore Group before investment promotion agencies.
- Lead engagement with the World Bank, IFC, AfDB, Afreximbank, UN agencies and other multilateral institutions.
- Advise the Board on geopolitical and regulatory developments.
- Support major infrastructure, PPP and industrial projects.
- Lead institutional partnerships for strategic investments.
- Coordinate executive engagement with ambassadors, high commissions and diplomatic missions.
- Guide public policy positioning on issues affecting the Group.
Ideal Government Background
The ideal candidate may have previously served as:
- Federal Minister
- Minister of State
- Permanent Secretary
- Director-General of a Federal Agency
- Executive Secretary of a Regulatory Authority
- Ambassador or High Commissioner
- Senior Presidential Adviser
- Chief of Staff to a Governor or President
- Executive Secretary of an Investment Promotion Agency
- Former Executive of NIPC
- Former Executive of NEPC
- Former senior official of the Ministry of Finance
- Former senior official of the Ministry of Industry, Trade & Investment
- Former senior official within ECOWAS or the African Union
International experience is highly desirable.
