Textiles and garments from Spain should be bought against a controlled material, construction and fit specification. Retail stock, technical fabrics and private-label production need different checks. Wigmore Trading can discuss supplier identification, sample coordination and export delivery for a defined order.
Fabric and yarn requirements
Non-woven textiles, synthetic fabrics, woven staple-fibre fabric, light or heavy cotton, rubberised knitted material and plastic-coated textiles are not interchangeable. State the end use and performance criteria. For synthetic filament or staple-fibre yarn and monofilament, specify count or dimensions, composition, finish and package format.
Testing should reflect the application: dimensional stability, colourfastness, strength, coating performance or other required characteristics. A technical fabric may require evidence beyond a general clothing specification. The buyer’s qualified team should set the methods and limits.
Garments by construction and wearer
Knitted babies’ garments, non-knit babies’ garments, activewear, men’s shirts and suits, coats, women’s undergarments, socks and hosiery need their own measurement and construction schedule. Specify knitted or woven form and the size assortment. A size label is not a universal fit standard.
For leather apparel, felt or coated garments, identify the material, finish, lining and care needs. Children’s garments require the destination’s applicable safety checks. Do not assume that an adult fashion supplier’s documentation covers infant products.
Sample approval and bulk control
Agree development and pre-production samples where needed. Retain colour references, approved measurements and permitted tolerances. Connect inspection to the actual production lot rather than relying on a showroom sample.
Private-label orders need authorised artwork and brand use, label content and packaging approval. Define how changes, defects and short shipments are handled. A sample should become a measurable contractual reference.
Origin, labelling and delivery
| Area | Buyer’s check |
|---|---|
| Identity | Composition, construction, producer and production origin. |
| Quality | Measurements, finish, testing and bulk inspection. |
| Market | Labels, wearer-specific safety and claims evidence. |
| Freight | Lot separation, moisture protection, packing and delivery basis. |
Confirm current destination requirements for the actual products. Spanish dispatch does not automatically prove preferential origin or eligibility in every market. For recurring supply, include forecast demand and repeat-colour or replacement requirements.
Send Wigmore a textile enquiry
Provide the technical pack, sample plan, quantity and delivery location. We can discuss sourcing, inspection and logistics scope. Availability, manufacturing lead time, origin and price are confirmed for the specific offer.
Footwear components for manufacturers
Footwear parts need drawings, materials, dimensions, size ranges, finish and the production process they must support. Uppers, soles and other components should be approved for fit and assembly with the buyer’s actual design. Confirm whether the order is for parts or complete footwear, because classification and destination requirements can differ.
