Timber and engineered panels

Rough wood, sawn wood, veneer sheets, plywood and particle board need appropriate grade, dimensions and condition. Specify permitted defects, surface, bonding or other performance requirements. The buyer’s designer should approve suitability for the intended use.

For building components and wood carpentry, use drawings, tolerances, finish and hardware requirements. Do not substitute a general furniture-grade panel into a structural or moisture-exposed application without approval.

Cork and specialist wood products

Raw cork and agglomerated cork need identity, dimensions, density or other relevant properties, finish and intended application. Packaging, insulation and decorative uses can have different requirements.

Wood barrels and crates require a defined use, construction and handling duty. Food or beverage contact, industrial packing and decorative use are separate specifications. Fuel wood needs a lawful source, product identity and destination review; it should not be described as ordinary untreated packing timber.

Source and traceability

Establish the producer, species and harvesting or processing origin. Verify any legality or certified-sourcing claim with evidence applicable to the product and supply chain. A seller in Spain may offer wood from another country.

Check the current timber, plant-health and environmental requirements for the destination and transaction. Do not assume that a certificate or treatment used for one route covers another product or market.

Quality and shipment planning

Plan moisture protection, ventilation or other preservation as appropriate to the material. Agree loading, bundle identification, handling and receiving storage. Untreated or poorly protected wood can change condition between inspection and use.
