An agent banking platform should help an authorised organisation run a dependable network: identify its agents, control access, explain transactions and support customers when something goes wrong. If you are comparing agent banking software in Nigeria, a polished dashboard is only the starting point. The buying decision should connect the proposed technology to the institution, people and operating processes behind it.
Wigmore Trading welcomes enquiries about agent network technology, procurement and implementation planning. Bring your operating model and integration requirements so the team can confirm the appropriate scope, delivery approach and specialist involvement before a proposal is agreed.
What should an agency banking platform cover?
| Workstream | What to demonstrate |
|---|---|
| Agent lifecycle | Application, review, appointment, training, suspension and exit |
| Transaction operations | Clear references, status changes, reversals and controlled access |
| Financial control | Ledger matching, settlement exceptions and approved commission rules |
| Network management | Location records, service availability, performance and support ownership |
A smaller network may need a focused portal and dependable reporting first. A larger deployment may require integration with existing systems, several operational teams and a formal migration plan. Avoid paying for modules that do not solve a defined problem.
Understand the regulated operating model
The CBN’s October 2025 guidelines distinguish principals, super agents and agents, with different responsibilities. They also address agent exclusivity and location. Read the CBN agent banking guidelines with your compliance team before defining a deployment. Software procurement does not itself confer banking authorisation.
A useful demonstration follows a difficult transaction
Ask the supplier to show an agent application that needs correction, a transaction whose response is delayed, a disputed payout and an agent leaving the network. Follow each case through the screen, audit history, customer communication and financial records. A presentation of successful transactions alone will not reveal whether operations staff can resolve exceptions.
For example, if a customer sees a debit but the agent sees a timeout, the system needs a reliable status enquiry and a controlled investigation path. Retrying an instruction without knowing its outcome can create a second problem. Define who may retry, reverse or escalate, and what evidence they must retain.
Compare the complete implementation cost
Separate discovery, software licensing or subscription, integrations, device supply, connectivity, migration, training and ongoing support. Ask how pricing changes with active agents, users, transactions or environments. A lower headline fee may omit the work needed to connect your principal’s systems.
Agree data ownership, export format, support hours, incident escalation and exit assistance in writing. Require security review and realistic acceptance tests before a wider rollout. A claimed API should be supported by documentation and a demonstration using test data.
Questions buyers ask
Is this a licence to operate agent banking?
No. The software and the regulated service relationship are separate. Identify the authorised parties and responsibilities before activating services.
Can an existing network migrate?
Potentially, but first assess agent records, duplicate identities, historical balances, contracts and outstanding disputes. Agree a cutover and reconciliation plan rather than importing unreviewed records.
What should I send Wigmore?
Share your country, institution type, approximate network size, current systems, priority problems and target pilot date. A process diagram and a redacted requirements list are more useful at this stage than customer identity documents.
Prepare your project enquiry
Before contacting us, note your operating country and locations, organisation type, existing systems, priority problems, expected scale and desired pilot date. List the capabilities you need and the evidence you want to see in a demonstration. Do not send passwords, API secrets, identity documents or customer financial and health records through an initial enquiry.
This checklist is for your own preparation; it does not submit or store information.
