An agent dashboard balance is useful only when operations and finance can explain how it was calculated. Agent payout and reconciliation projects in Nigeria need a shared view of transaction instructions, provider responses, ledger entries and bank settlement evidence. Without that view, a busy network can accumulate unresolved differences while its screens appear healthy.
Discuss your agent payment integration or reconciliation requirements with Wigmore Trading. The first step is to map the existing money flow and responsible licensed providers; any wallet, custody or settlement capability must be confirmed with the appropriate parties.
Separate four different records
| Record | Question it answers |
|---|---|
| Instruction | What action was requested and by whom? |
| Transaction outcome | Was it pending, successful, failed or reversed? |
| Ledger entry | What accounting movement was recorded? |
| Settlement evidence | What funds reached the designated account? |
These records may arrive at different times. A timeout is not a confirmed failure, and a successful instruction does not automatically prove that every downstream settlement has matched. Agree reference formats and status definitions before connecting systems.
Build an exception workflow
Classify unmatched items by cause: missing reference, duplicate instruction, delayed response, fee difference, reversal or unexplained amount. Assign an owner and an ageing threshold. A useful agent reconciliation system lets staff attach evidence and resolve an item through an approved process without silently rewriting history.
For example, a payout may be marked pending while an external provider later confirms success. Test that status enquiry, callbacks and manual investigation converge on one result. Duplicate callbacks should not produce duplicate credits. Use a controlled test environment to demonstrate this behaviour.
Wallet management needs a clear legal and financial model
Establish whether the proposed wallet is an operational view of a provider-managed account or a separate regulated product. Identify who holds funds, handles complaints, sets permitted transactions and supplies statements. Do not describe a software balance as protected customer money without evidence of the actual arrangement.
Where agent balances fund transactions, define funding confirmation, available versus reserved amounts and restrictions on adjustments. Show finance teams how to trace a balance to individual entries and an approved opening position.
Control payouts and settlement changes
Separate the person requesting a manual payout or bank-detail change from the person approving it. Apply access limits, independent verification and a recoverable audit trail. Reports should distinguish gross value, provider charges, commission, adjustments and net settlement, so an apparent shortfall can be investigated correctly.
Agree how unresolved items appear at period end. Exportable reports should retain stable identifiers, timestamps and currencies. Reconciliation is an ongoing control, not a spreadsheet exercise performed only when an agent complains.
What to test before launch
- Delayed and out-of-order provider messages.
- Duplicate requests and repeated settlement files.
- Partial settlement, reversal and fee adjustment.
- Wrong beneficiary details and blocked access.
- Recovery after interruption without losing financial history.
Can every payment provider be connected?
That depends on approved access, documentation, commercial terms and technical compatibility. Ask for a provider-specific scope rather than a universal integration promise.
What should I provide for a project review?
Send a redacted transaction lifecycle, settlement schedule, sample file layout and exception categories. Do not send live account credentials or unredacted customer records. Wigmore can use the brief to discuss implementation options and responsibilities.
Prepare your project enquiry
Before contacting us, note your operating country and locations, organisation type, existing systems, priority problems, expected scale and desired pilot date. List the capabilities you need and the evidence you want to see in a demonstration. Do not send passwords, API secrets, identity documents or customer financial and health records through an initial enquiry.
This checklist is for your own preparation; it does not submit or store information.
