How To Buy and Export Tropical Fruits from Kenya.

Kenya is a country in East Africa that has many opportunities for those who want to buy and export exotic tropical fruits. With a large tree population, Kenya’s tropical fruits are available year round. The most popular fruit by far is mangoes. However, there are other fruits like guavas, oranges, plantains, avocados and more that you can find in Kenya. In this blog post, we will teach you how to buy and export these fruits from Kenya so you can enjoy them at home!

Why buy and export tropical fruits from Kenya?

There are a lot of reasons why you should buy and export fruits from Kenya.

One of the main reasons is that Kenya has a large tree population making it possible for exotic tropical fruits to be available all year round. The country also benefits from high temperatures year-round which makes it an ideal destination destination for those who wish to buy and export fruits like avocados, oranges, plantains, and more.

Another reason is that while other countries may have tariffs on imported fruits, Kenyan tariffs are very low or non-existent in some cases. In fact, the country doesn’t even have a tax on foreign fruit imports at all! This means if you’re importing fruit into Kenya, there will be no tax to worry about when it comes time to sell your product!

Lastly, as an exporter of fruit products, you’ll find that there’s a lot of demand for them in other countries. With so many different types of fruit available in Kenya including guavas, oranges and more it’s easy to see why people want to buy them from here.

How to select your fruit variety

The first step towards buying and exporting fruit from Kenya is to find out which variety of fruit you would like to buy. When purchasing fruits, you should consider the following factors:

– The type of fruit: Are they imported or grown in Kenya?

– The size of the fruit: Smaller sizes are cheaper than larger ones. Larger quantities are more cost efficient per pound.

– The cost of shipping: Bigger orders will cost less per pound than smaller orders.

– The quality / grade of the fruit: If you’re looking for a top quality piece, try importing it directly from the country where it’s grown rather than buying it through a middleman.

What to do before you leave

One of the biggest challenges when buying a fruit from Kenya is knowing which one to buy. With so many options, it can be hard to decide.

To make your decision easier, do your research on what kind of fruit you want before you leave. Find out which fruits are in season and find out what fruits are popular in different seasons so you know what you’re getting yourself into.

Where to get a permit

to export fruits from Kenya

The first step to getting a permit is call the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) at +254-4-444-6200. This number will help you get information about the process for obtaining your permit and how long it takes.

After talking to the KRA, you’ll need to fill out an application for Export Permit Application form (A1). There is a fee of $25 for this application. The form can be found on their website: https://www.kra.go.ke/forms/forms-a1 . You are also required to have a copy of your invoice or packing list, which must include all the items that you are shipping.

Once your application has been submitted, they will send you a confirmation letter and invoice in approximately one week’s time. After receiving your letter and invoice, go back to the KRA office with them and pay the money that is due within 12 hours of being issued by them.

What to bring with you

So now that you’ve decided to buy some of the exotic tropical fruits from Kenya, how are you going to do it?

The first and most important thing you will need is a valid passport. If you don’t have one, then you can get one at the Kenyan Embassy or Consulate in your country. You will also need a little bit of money since these fruits are not cheap. Depending on what fruit you want, prices range from $3-$40 USD.

But not only will you need money, but also the right paperwork! With these fruits being so expensive and difficult to reproduce, they all come with their own unique documentation requirements, so make sure to grab those details before going shopping.

Next up is everything else! Make sure to bring a knife or a sharp knife for cutting the fruit as well as plastic bags (to keep it fresh). In addition to your foodstuff, make sure that you have plenty of drinks for yourself and your fellow travelers too. Try bringing things like water bottles or juice boxes for everyone on your trip! You’ll also want to bring a small cooler bag if possible because these fruits can be very heavy when they’re fully ripe and ready to eat. Finally, don’t forget snacks like fruit

Importing and exporting requirements

Before you can export fruit from Kenya, you need to import the items you want to ship. The first step is to find out the type of fruit and the quantity you are looking for.

Once you know what type of fruits you want to buy, head over to the Kenyan Ministry of Agriculture website where they have a list of items that can be imported and exported. Here, you’ll find information about the required certificates needed for importing and exporting items from Kenya.

In order to import fruits from Kenya, as long as your country has a trade agreement with Kenya, your items have to have a certificate called an Export Certificate. This certificate must be approved by both countries’ governments before it can be used at customs when entering or leaving Kenya’s borders. You will have no problems getting this certificate since there are few restrictions on what can be imported into Kenya!

To avoid any troubles during your trip into and out of Africa, make sure all your paperwork is in order before traveling so that you don’t cause unwanted delays or headaches on arrival or departure!

Importing the fruit without a permit

Before you can import any fruit from Kenya, you’ll need to make sure your country of origin has a trade agreement with Kenya. If not, you’ll need to get a permit for importing their fruits into the U.S.

To do this, you’ll have to go to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and File an International Import Permit Application (CP 72). This process will take about 10 days before the fruit can cross the border.

Once the fruit is on its way to America, it’s up to you whether or not you want to clear it through CBP again when it comes in. The more times the fruit goes through customs, the more expensive it becomes.

Exporting the fruit without a permit

The first step that you need to take when exporting fruit from Kenya is finding the appropriate country of origin. You will not be able to export fruit out of Kenya without a fruit export certificate, or FELC. Those who do not have a FELC are required to apply for one at the Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) before exporting.

Before starting this process, it is recommended that you contact the MOA in order to determine whether or not your business qualifies for a certificate. If your business does qualify, then start applying for your FELC at the ministry.

In order to apply for your FELC, you must provide a written application and supporting documents including details about where and when you intend on exporting the fruits. Often times, you must also provide copies of invoices detailing how much the fruit will cost once it’s exported and what its destination is going to be after it leaves Kenya.

If your business has all of these documents ready before submitting your application, then you’ll be able to speed up the process considerably!

Traveling abroad with exotic fruits

One of the most difficult parts about traveling abroad is knowing what you can bring back from your trip. If you want to bring back exotic fruits, you will have to know what fruits are legal and what restrictions are placed on them.

The country of import for your fruit will factor into the legality of your fruit. The United States does not allow mangoes unless they come from Hawaii or Puerto Rico. In Kenya, mangoes are allowed unless they come from Uganda or Tanzania. To avoid any problems with customs, it’s important to know which countries are the best choices to import your fruit from.

Conclusion

Buying and exporting tropical fruits from Kenya is a great way to have an international adventure.

Kenya is a diverse country with a rich cultural history, beautiful scenery and an abundance of natural resources. It’s no wonder they produce some of the world’s best fruit.

If you’re ready to embark on an international adventure, consider buying and exporting tropical fruits from Kenya.
