An employer comparing life, health or employee-benefit arrangements needs to understand who is covered, what benefits apply and which provider is responsible. Underwriting questions should be handled through the appropriate professional process, with personal and medical information protected.

Wigmore Trading welcomes scheme-planning and provider-coordination enquiries in Nigeria. We can discuss the business requirement and appropriate next steps. The responsible authorised provider determines eligibility, pricing and any cover; no individual assessment or policy acceptance is offered through this page.

Define the benefit required

Group life, individual term life, credit life, key-person protection, health plans and annuities serve different purposes. State whether the requirement concerns employees, borrowers, owners or another defined group. Do not assume one product covers every event.

Requirement Questions to clarify
Group life Eligible group, benefit basis, employment changes and provider
Health plan Benefits, network, exclusions, access and administration
Key-person or credit life Insured interest, benefit purpose and contractual arrangements
Annuity Provider, product terms, payments and professional advice

Separate insurer, HMO and adviser roles

Ask which entity issues the product, administers benefits, provides healthcare access or gives advice. A familiar intermediary name does not establish all of those roles. Confirm the relevant authorisation for the exact provider and activity.

For insurance, NAICOM’s resources are a starting point. Health-plan and HMO arrangements may involve additional requirements; the responsible professionals should establish the applicable pathway rather than treating all schemes as identical.

Protect sensitive information

Initial procurement discussions can use a non-identifying scheme description. Individual medical history, identity, salary and beneficiary data should follow a controlled and lawful collection process established by the appropriate provider.

Agree access, retention, security and responsibilities with privacy specialists. Review the applicable framework using NDPC resources. An employer’s general enquiry does not justify circulating staff health files.

Compare benefits and terms

Look at coverage, exclusions, limits, waiting or qualifying conditions where relevant, claims procedures and administration. For health benefits, assess provider networks and access arrangements against the locations where staff actually work.

Premium comparison should use a consistent scheme basis and current provider assessment. A lower cost can reflect different benefits or conditions. Do not promise all applicants the same terms or assume a preliminary quotation is bound cover.

Plan ongoing administration

Establish how members join, leave or change details, how queries are handled and who maintains records. Agree escalation for claims or service problems. Employee communications should accurately reflect confirmed terms.

Medical underwriting and financial suitability decisions need the appropriate authorised professionals. A coordination service does not replace their judgment or create authority to approve individuals.

Can Wigmore decide whether an employee qualifies?

No. Any eligibility or underwriting decision belongs with the responsible provider under its lawful process.

What should I send first?

Provide the scheme objective, approximate group size, locations, current arrangement and timing without identifiable personal records. We can discuss the appropriate procurement and coordination scope.

Prepare your enquiry brief

Note your organisation type, location, purpose, required deliverable, systems or products involved and target dates. Identify the responsible decision-maker and distinguish preparation, analysis, administration and regulated activities.

Start with non-confidential project details. Do not send medical, identity, borrower, policyholder or private financial records through an initial sales enquiry. Agree scope, permissions and controlled access first. This checklist does not submit information.
