A telecom API platform should make approved communications or network services usable by developers and manageable by the business. SMS, voice, USSD and mobile-network APIs have different capabilities and provider conditions. Wigmore Trading accepts enquiries for telecom platform procurement, system integration and developer-project planning in Nigeria and Africa.
Send the required services, markets, enterprise systems and proposed provider arrangements. Access to a catalogue, SDK, sandbox or production network function must be confirmed for the particular project; this guide does not announce a live Wigmore developer portal.
Define the platform’s role
Distinguish a communications provider, API gateway, developer marketplace and management layer. Identify who delivers each service, who contracts with users and who handles incidents. A common interface does not erase the different commercial and regulatory responsibilities.
For cloud communications or platform-as-a-service proposals, confirm hosting, data, security, integration and exit scope alongside the actual channel services.
Evaluate open network API claims
The GSMA Open Gateway FAQ explains network API concepts and access through deployed provider platforms. The Open Gateway portal provides deployment and documentation resources.
A published specification does not establish that a particular operator has deployed it or that your business has production access. Ask for country, operator, API and eligibility evidence for the exact offer.
Prepare a developer platform checklist
| Capability | What to verify |
|---|---|
| Catalogue | Current services, provider identity and availability |
| Documentation | Authentication, schemas, versions, errors and supported SDKs |
| Sandbox | Test data, limitations and route to production approval |
| Management | Keys, permissions, quotas, metering and audit records |
| Support | Onboarding, incident ownership and change communication |
Plan access and API security
Define who can create applications, issue credentials and enable services. Separate environments and apply permissions appropriate to each client and business role. Keep secrets out of public code, documents and support channels.
Rate limits, authentication and authorisation should support the approved use and capacity model. Agree how access is reviewed, changed and revoked, including when a partnership or application ends.
Make metering and billing auditable
Define what counts as a billable event for each API. Accepted requests, delivered messages, completed calls and verified outcomes can be different charging concepts. Record units, currencies, adjustments and the evidence used to resolve a dispute.
For API monetisation, specify the catalogue owner, customer contract, pricing approval and revenue accounting. Do not assume a technical usage counter is sufficient for invoicing or provider settlement.
Use analytics for operations
Monitor availability, latency, errors and usage with clear definitions. Keep business outcomes distinct from API request success. Alerts should identify the affected service, responsible owner and safe investigation references.
Protect customer and network information in logs and dashboards. Data access, retention and cross-border processing need review for the actual architecture and jurisdictions.
Support developers through change
Plan onboarding, examples, versioning, release notes and retirement notices. A developer programme needs an operating team as well as a website. Confirm responsibility for support across the gateway and underlying providers.
Use the SMS guide, voice guide and USSD developer guide to prepare channel-specific tests. For partnerships, distinguish proposed connections from executed and approved arrangements.
Send a telecom platform brief
Tell Wigmore Trading the services, countries, users, traffic profile and systems you need to connect. Include required developer tools, security, billing, analytics and launch milestones. We can assess discovery, sourcing, integration and support scope and identify provider or specialist dependencies before a written proposal.
