A rig safety enquiry should identify the risks and responsibilities the project needs qualified specialists to assess. HSE personnel, emergency planning, fire and gas systems, PPE and well-control training are related requirements, but they are not interchangeable services. Buying equipment or a course does not by itself establish operational readiness.

Wigmore Trading welcomes sourcing and coordination enquiries for safety equipment, training requirements and specialist support. The actual provider, competence, accreditation and scope must be confirmed. This guide is not emergency-response, well-control or equipment-use instruction.

Define the safety scope and technical authority

State the rig, location, planned work and operator requirements. Identify whether the request concerns a risk assessment, HAZID, HAZOP, audit, training or equipment package. Qualified specialists should determine the appropriate method, participants and deliverables.

Nigeria’s Upstream Petroleum Safety Regulations 2024 provide a relevant regulatory starting point. Have the responsible team confirm the requirements applying to the actual operation rather than rely on a generic checklist.

Safety procurement workstreams

Requirement Evidence to request
Fire, gas and detection systems Approved specification, suitability and specialist installation or service scope
Firefighting and PPE Product identity, conformity evidence, maintenance and training requirements
Emergency and spill-response support Defined responsibilities, interfaces, resources and acceptance
Safety personnel Role-specific competence and reporting responsibilities
Audit and risk assessment Qualified assessor, scope, evidence and action-closure process

Do not substitute generic industrial products for the operator-approved requirement. Confirm compatibility and intended service before procurement.

Verify training by course and provider

For well-control requirements, consult the IWCF centre directory or IADC WellSharp information as appropriate. For BOSIET-related requirements, use the OPITO approved-centre resource. Confirm the exact course, level and current provider status.

A company’s use of a training acronym is not proof of accreditation. The employer and operator should determine which course is suitable for the role. This page does not claim Wigmore is an accredited training centre.

Plan how training connects to deployment

Identify required completion dates, verification, refresher arrangements and site-specific induction. Keep competence evidence separate from travel permissions and medical-readiness processes. Do not assume one certificate satisfies every deployment requirement.

Handle personnel information through an appropriate process. Initial enquiries should give roles and course requirements rather than include private medical files or identity documents.

Make audit findings actionable

Agree the evidence base, report format, prioritisation and responsible owner for each action. Distinguish an advisory review from statutory inspection or certification. A finding should not be closed solely because a purchase order was issued.

For emergency planning, the responsible operator and specialists should establish procedures and coordination. A sales article cannot replace an approved plan, drill programme or competent supervision.

Can Wigmore certify a rig or issue IWCF, IADC or OPITO credentials?

Any certification role belongs to the appropriately authorised provider. The team can assess a sourcing or coordination enquiry and confirm the actual parties involved.

What should I send?

Provide the project, roles, approved safety requirements, product schedules and dates. Wigmore can discuss a defined procurement package and the evidence needed for review.

Prepare your rig-services enquiry

Before contacting us, note the asset type and identity, project location, intended work, approved specifications, programme dates and current readiness. Identify the equipment, personnel or services required and who controls technical acceptance. Separate confirmed information from assumptions and list any approvals still outstanding.

Use a non-confidential brief initially. Do not send credentials, restricted well data, private personnel records or confidential contract files through a general sales enquiry. This checklist is for your own preparation and does not submit information.
