A rig maintenance enquiry should identify the equipment, condition and work required before discussing attendance or price. Preventive maintenance, corrective repair and a major return-to-service project are different scopes. Clear records help the operator choose the right specialist and avoid replacing parts without understanding the underlying problem.
Wigmore Trading welcomes maintenance sourcing, spare-parts and service-coordination enquiries for drilling rigs in Nigeria. OEM involvement, provider competence and the actual repair package must be confirmed. This article is procurement guidance, not a repair or isolation procedure.
Build the asset and maintenance scope
List the rig type and location, equipment manufacturer, model, serial reference and current configuration. Include relevant service history, fault descriptions and the approved maintenance requirements. A vague request to service an oil rig cannot produce a comparable quotation.
Separate mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, instrumentation and control-system work. Identify interfaces that require coordinated review rather than assume one contractor can handle every system.
Match the specialist to the system
| System | What to establish |
|---|---|
| Top drive and drawworks | Exact equipment, service history, inspection and acceptance scope |
| Mud pumps | Configuration, operating history and approved parts requirements |
| BOP and well-control equipment | Authorised specialist, applicable requirements and traceable service evidence |
| Engines and power systems | OEM requirements, condition and associated interfaces |
| Controls and instrumentation | Configuration, documentation and authorised change process |
Safety-critical systems need the appropriate technical authority and competent provider. Do not accept an unverified equivalent component merely because it fits physically.
Plan work around operating constraints
Identify maintenance windows, site access, approved work controls and dependencies. The operator should determine safe work arrangements and readiness for return to service. A service quotation should not bypass those requirements.
For offshore, swamp or remote locations, include personnel travel, tools, lifting interfaces, accommodation and spare-parts delivery. A short attendance estimate may exclude the logistics needed to perform the work.
Control parts, repairs and configuration changes
Request part numbers, origin, authenticity evidence and compatibility information. Agree how obsolete items or proposed alternatives will be reviewed. A supplier’s OEM claim needs verification for the actual product and appointment.
Keep removed items, inspection findings, repair reports and replacement records traceable. If a repair changes configuration or maintenance requirements, update the controlled documentation before handover.
Define return-to-service evidence
Agree inspection and acceptance requirements with the responsible specialists. Record outstanding work, restrictions and approved follow-up actions. A completed invoice is not technical acceptance.
Maintenance contracts should identify included assets, response arrangements, exclusions, consumables, reporting and additional-work approval. Avoid promising zero downtime or a universal response time without evidence and a defined service agreement.
Can Wigmore supply OEM rig parts?
Send the exact requirement. The team can assess sourcing routes and supporting evidence; stock and manufacturer authorisation are confirmed for the specific enquiry.
What should I send first?
Provide the equipment register, location, symptoms or planned service scope, service history and required date. Redact credentials and confidential control-system information from an initial sales brief.
Prepare your rig-services enquiry
Before contacting us, note the asset type and identity, project location, intended work, approved specifications, programme dates and current readiness. Identify the equipment, personnel or services required and who controls technical acceptance. Separate confirmed information from assumptions and list any approvals still outstanding.
Use a non-confidential brief initially. Do not send credentials, restricted well data, private personnel records or confidential contract files through a general sales enquiry. This checklist is for your own preparation and does not submit information.
