A product being made or traded in India does not mean it can be exported without conditions or imported into every African market. Confirm the exact description and classification before requesting a firm landed quotation. The Indian government’s foreign-trade policy explanation distinguishes freely traded, restricted, prohibited and state-trading categories; current DGFT notifications and other applicable rules must be checked for the proposed shipment.
Prepare a sourcing brief that suppliers can quote
Include product specification, grade or model, quantity, permitted alternatives, packaging, destination and intended use. Say whether you require an origin-port offer, freight to a port or delivery through to your premises. List inspection, traceability and regulatory evidence required before shipment.
For machinery, add the operating duty, utilities and service expectations. For food and ingredients, identify the intended application, testing, shelf life and storage needs. For medicines and medical equipment, use the exact registered product or device details and an appropriately authorised importer. Generic category names cannot establish approval.
Compare the complete commercial scope
Check origin, specification, inspection, payment milestones, delivery responsibilities and claim handling. A sample is useful only when the bulk order must meet the agreed sample and measurable acceptance criteria. Confirm bank details through an independently verified channel and investigate any unexpected beneficiary change.
